
Route Setter

Route Setters play a key role in building climbers, satisfying members, and bringing together the climbing community. Setters must work safely and forerun as needed. Details
Job Responsibilities:
- Set boulders at the productivity level designated by the Head Route Setter
- Work with the Head Route Setter to meet facility turnover and grade distribution goals
- Assist with other routesetting-related tasks (hold-washing, hold-stripping, wall maintenance, etc.)
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Head Route Setter
- Receive direction and constructive feedback well
- Work at height and on ladders, adhering to best risk-management practices
- Learn and improve routesetting, forerunning, and related skill sets
Job Details:
- Set weekly 6:30am – 11:30am Tuesday/Wednesday and as needed for competitions
- All equipment and tools needed will be provided
- Financial assistance to attend clinics or other setting-related training opportunities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Able to give and receive constructive criticism
- Punctual and reliable
- Must have the ability to seek, accept, and give constructive feedback in a professional manner
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of climbing experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Previous experience route setting is preferred
- Ability to consistently forerun V6 – V8 required
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, push, pull, climb and reach, and perform repetitive motions
- Physical ability to perform setting and hold stripping work while using ladders for long periods of time
- May be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Hazards include, but are not limited to, slipping, tripping, and falling
