Assistant Coach

If you love climbing and want to share your passion and knowledge with the next generation, we’ve got a great opportunity for you! The assistant coach position works with Team Rock Mill, a competitive youth climbing team ranging from ages 8-18 during the Fall Bouldering season and the Spring Sport Climbing season, attending weekly practices and traveling for USAC local, regional, divisional and national competitions.

Responsibilities:

Train youth during weekly practices (Mon, Tue, Thu from 5pm - 7pm)

Attend all USAC competitions according to team performance (Approx. five weekend competitions in the Fall and five in the Spring, some overnight travel may be required)

Displaying professionalism and a positive attitude

Ensure that any necessary preparations are complete before practice begins

Arrive on time, physically and mentally ready to coach practice

Facilitate practices by ensuring that climbers are on task

Monitor and manage the use of Rock Mill equipment

Be self-motivated: Identify coachable moments and act upon them

Be aware of your climbers’ progress throughout the season

Be available some weekends

Required Qualifications:

USA Climbing SafeSport training certification*

USA Climbing coaching certification*

CPR/first aid certification*

Climbing experience

*Can be completed after hiring

Desired Qualifications:

Experience working with kids in small and large group settings

Experience facilitating team practices for youth
